Flora Thompson Lark Rise to Candleford Oxford University Press Flora Thompson was born in 1876, and her memoirs of growing up in an Oxfordshire hamlet and then of working in a post office in a nearby town, have become indispensable to social historians, while also being a pleasure to read in their own right. First published in 1939, this book gives a classic description of rural and small town life in the 1890s and Edwardian period. Highly recommended. This copy is a later reprinting of 1971 in Oxford's World's Classics series. Dark blue cloth binding, with an impression of the publisher's crest on the front cover, and gilt title on the spine. Spot at the foot of the front cover, and slight staining to a few of the page ends, but not on actual pages. Good tight copy. One copy only. £6.00 + £2.00 (UK only - select for overseas postage) £3.00 (Airmail within Europe) £4.00 (Airmail outside Europe)
